The experience
We start with a brief introduction to Chocolate and its History, focusing on the legends that surround chocolate, its discovery and usage. We try to keep this as entertaining and as accessible as possible to children. They are given a handout that has more detailed information and recipes to take home. The children get to taste chocolate bars and they are introduced to flavors they may not have tried before. There is a general discussion on chocolate. This is a good way of getting the group to communicate with each other.

Task 1: Design your own chocolate bar The group splits down into teams of 3 or 4. They get to smell and taste flavors that can go in their chocolate bar. The children are encouraged to think about what ingredients will work well together, and to give their bar a name. Then with some supervision they make their bars.

Task 2: Piping Dutch truffles Each child will have a turn at piping truffles, of a pre-prepared mixture. These are then frozen, and will be dipped in chocolate later.
Lunch is served for 15 mins, this will consist of sandwiches and a drink.

Task 3: Dipping and decorating chocolates. The Children now have the chance to be more hands on dipping and decorating two types of fudge and the Dutch truffles. We show them decorating techniques. After this they tidy up, boxing their chocolates. Finally there is a short quiz on what they have learnt through the course.

Vital Information
Separate sessions for 6-9 year olds and 10-13 year olds.

This course will last for approximately two and a half hours.

Spectators
You can enjoy this experience together with a friend. Sorry spectators cannot attend.

Dress code
We advise you to wear casual clothes. All equipment will be provided.

This experience is available on Sundays and occasionally on weekday evenings. When you would like to make a booking, you can pick a date either by telephone or online. We advise you to make a booking as far in advance as possible.
